2026 Exhibitions

On Land and Sea
 by Peter Wood

25 March – 14 April

This exhibition features a selection of acrylic paintings, including the prize-winning Barton Boatyard series, works inspired by Provence, and local Lincolnshire landscapes.

Painting is central to Peter Wood’s life and wellbeing. Working across media, his practice is rooted in an impressionistic response to light, mood, atmosphere, and texture. Shaped by extensive travel, teaching, and international residencies, his work reflects a lifelong engagement with place and experience, and has been widely exhibited and award-winning in the UK.

Finding My Way
by Will Thompson

22 April – 13 May

At sixteen, I promised myself that one day, in retirement, I would become an artist. Now at seventy-one, it feels important to keep that promise—time matters.

I am still finding my way. Without formal art school training, I learn through doing and experimenting, and I have yet to settle on a single style or subject. I currently work mainly in acrylics, after many years using watercolour, and plan to explore oil painting next.

This exhibition presents four different themes and approaches, reflecting a period of exploration rather than conclusions—an honest record of learning and discovery.

In Bloom
by Lisa Johnson

22 April – 13 May

I am a Fused Glass Artist exploring the abundance and joy of flowers. I live in the middle of the countryside near Easton and work from a studio in my garden. Working with glass is a challenge, I love the many different processes from the creative and artistic thoughts and decisions through to the technical steps of the firing. The vibrancy and bold colours of the glass continually excite me along with the tactile nature of fusing glass. To me Fused Glass is a multi sense media and gives me joy on multiple levels. Flowers and Nature inspire me with the abundance of forms, colours and compositions and creating floral pictures gives me the chance to surround myself with blooms and colour year round.

Work' in Class
by Sarah Barton, Rosemary Burke and Melanie Burton

20 May – 10 June

This exhibition brings together a collection of works by three local artists working in North Lincolnshire. Using a variety of media, their practice is shaped by shared surroundings and individual responses to place, combining reflections on rural life with studies inspired by travel abroad.

Waves & Wildflowers
by Sophie Purvis

17 June – 8 July

This exhibition brings together ceramics, watercolours and acrylic paintings inspired by meadows, wildflowers, and the ever-shifting sea.  Moving between land and water, the works explore places where grasses seem whisper, flowers glow with quiet presence and tides carry moments of hope and reflection.

My abstract canvases are bold and bright, while my watercolours focus on detail and delicacy.  Working with ceramics allows me to be fluid and organic, embracing movement and intuition.  The works come together as an exploration of colour, form and material.

An Abstract in Time and Space
by Jeannie Payne

17 June – 8 July

As I have grown older, my love of art has grown with me. My life has been enriched through many different experiences which are woven into a very rich tapestry of memories to call upon for inspiration.  I have travelled the world as a professional dancer, qualified as a teacher and went on to achieve an MA/Ed.

My inspiration for art is shape, line and colour.  I am currently inspired by 16th century architectural drawings and the shape and spaces that buildings occupy.

I am fascinated by impossible shapes, symmetry and mathematical shapes.  I also love the flow and movement of dance and nature.  My fascinations are not easily classified into a specific genre as they all amalgamate at certain points.

In Reference Too - a group show curated by Soraya Smithson

12 August – 2 September

In Reference Too is an exhibition of artworks made in response to Willoughby Memorial Reference Library; to the history of this collection of books and documents, to an individual book or set of books on a particular subject, and to this library’s collections of periodicals and maps. Exhibitors will also take inspiration from the idea of time-capsule collections, the use Reference Libraries as quiet spaces for reading and research, the concept of libraries and physical books in the digital age, and of libraries under threat of closure.

A Love of Colour
by Valerie Rath

9 September – 30 September

I create bright, joyful artworks, inspired by anything colourful that catches my eye - especially flowers. Whether blooming in my own garden or dancing across the landscape, they make irresistible subjects. I paint mainly in oils, loving their buttery texture, though their long drying time often leads me to experiment with other mediums. Above all, I hope that the joy I feel while painting shines through, so viewers can feel that same happiness when they experience my work

Finding Joy in our Landscape
by Rachel Larder

9 September – 30 September

I’m a contemporary painter based on the Rutland and Lincolnshire border, in the village of Castle Bytham. I paint mostly as a hobby and as a form of therapy, creating abstracted, imaginary works inspired by the countryside around me. I enjoy working with a mix of materials and textures, and I sometimes introduce small three-dimensional elements into the surface. I try not to take painting too seriously — for me it’s about curiosity, optimism and finding joy in the process. I give my work deliberately vague titles, as I like the idea that a painting isn’t fully finished until someone else brings their own interpretation to it. In that sense, I see each piece as a small collaboration between me and whoever lives with it next.
